3 new habits I’m implementing this spring

Y’all know I love a good change of pace-a new week, new year, new month, new SEASON! Spring is around the corner-I can feel it in my soul and I am implementing some fresh new habits to bring with me into the new season.

  1. 12 ounces of water BEFORE coffee. It’s no secret that coffee is not only something I sip in the morning, but for me it’s also a mood and a feeling. However, in an effort to kickstart my metabolism and encourage a positive start to my daily water intake, I have been drinking at least 12 ounces of water before i take my first sip of coffee. I’ve noticed that it helps me feel more alert and it also makes me feel refreshed which I typically find hard to come by first thing in the morning!
  2. Chris and I have declared our bedroom a no phone zone! We moved our chargers to his desk in the neutral area of the basement. That way, they charge overnight without interrupting OUR night. Chris used to reach for his phone in the middle of the night and find himself scrolling through the wee hours of the morning and I had a hard time putting my phone away. I often reached for it just to check insta and refresh my email ‘one more time.’ We’ve been shocked at how much MORE pleasant our evenings are and how much our room truly feels like a sanctuary where we are free to relax, revel in the quiet, and actually soak in each other’s company.
  3. Jotting a daily love letter into a journal. This is something that has been on my mind for so long and I am thrilled that I finally bit the bullet and committed. The days are long but the years are short and no matter how exhausted I feel at the end of the day, I always have something to be thankful for. Jotting down a daily love letter helps me reflect on the positives and my mind is far more at ease when my head hits the pillow than it was before I wrote in my journal.

Whether spring has officially sprung yet or not, I am all in for implementing these new habits. I encourage you to take a good, hard look at your day and see where and how you could fit a few more positive habits into your everyday. I bet you’ll be surprised at how BIG of a difference TINY habits can make! xx
